GET THE PLAN TO MOVE YOUR COMMUNITY TOWARD ZERO WASTE
Our Community Zero Waste Roadmap is your step-by-step guide to creating a plan that’s right for your community. Whether you’re ready to move an inch or a mile, we can help you find your way and connect you with others on the path.
Some Zero Waste plans are 100+ pages. This guidebook is brief by design. It’s a high level overview—the key infrastructure, policies, and programs that have been proven to work in every community that is seriously pursuing a Zero Waste goal. We’ve laid it out as a three-phase, 10-year plan to reduce waste and recover 90% of the discards in your community.
Not just what to do, but how to do it
This Roadmap is designed to be used by you—as a citizen, organization, elected official, public staff, business owner, or student—to get your community moving on the journey toward Zero Waste. It will help you understand your role in the community and how you can create a ripple of change wherever you call home.
To do that, you need to know not only what steps need to be taken but also how to actually implement change. Our section on community dialogue focuses on just that, with strategies such as an Inside-Outside Partnership and a Community Table to help you take action as a community.
It is going to take all of us working together to change the existing systems where we “throw away” nearly everything into community systems where we recover nearly everything for recycling, composting, and reuse.
Read our Executive Summary of the Roadmap to get a quick overview, but don’t stop there. Download the full Community Zero Waste Roadmap and take the first step toward eliminating the very concept of waste and moving toward a more sustainable, prosperous community.
